Introduction

General Information
The First and Emergency Aid program within the Department of Medical Services and Techniques is an associate degree program. In pre-hospital health services, it aims to train health technicians who analyze the current situation of the sick and injured, provide life support when necessary, and ensure that they are safely transported to hospitals. Within the program, there are field courses such as anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, emergency patient care, emergency health services, basic life support, advanced life support, professional practice, courses for basic health care knowledge and practical courses for the application of theoretical knowledge.
 
Aims and Objectives of the Program
The main aim of the program is to take part in pre-hospital health care processes; Responsible, analytical, prudent, patient and life saving focused, intermediate health human resource is to train. The program aims to provide students with the following qualifications;
1. To be able to analyze the condition of the patients until they reach the hospital and to decide on the appropriate intervention,
2. To be able to perform intravenous (intravenous) procedures, oxygen applications,
3. To be able to provide basic life support,
4. To be able to use the necessary medical equipment (ECG, defibrillator, nebulizer, monitorization, respirators, etc.) and to assist in its use,
5. Gaining competence in wound care and closure,
6. To take part in search and rescue activities,
7. To be responsible for resource utilization and organization processes.
The program also aims students to gain strong communication skills, acquire problem-solving skills, and graduate as productive and hardworking individuals.
  
Admission Requirements
The basic admission requirements are for the candidates to meet the requirements set by ÖSYM, to be high school graduates, and to have received sufficient points from the University Student Selection Examination. In lateral transfers, individuals must meet the admission requirement.

Graduation Requirements
Students who have 120 ECTS/ECTS, a weighted grade point average of “2.00” out of 4.00 and have completed their compulsory internship are entitled to graduate. First and Emergency Aid Program associate degree diploma is given to graduates.

Employment Opportunities
Graduates receive the title of "Health Technician". Graduates can be employed in 112 stations, ambulance companies and hospital emergency services. The increase in the demand for health services and the increase in the production of services have brought the increase in qualified health personnel. University and public hospitals recruit health technicians. In addition, the expansion experienced in private health management and ambulance services has also increased the need for health technicians.

Students who graduate from the program can transfer to the following undergraduate programs with the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
